"The Answer" of Physics

        While physics provides many answers to our universe, there is much that cannot be fully explained through mathematical equations. For this reason, the top physicists and important figures in the field have varying theories to “The Answer” to the universe. To some physicists, “The Answer” is an overarching theoretical equation that could solve the complex questions of the universe like supermembranes and super 5-branes. This version of “The Answer” is more recently known as “M-theory”. M-theory is a continuation of string theory and is an attempt to relate and connect the quantum aspect of physics with gravity. The goal is to be able to explain quantum effects and gravity and the relationship between the two similar to electricity and magnetism. M–theory would is thought to be the poetic “Answer” to the universe since it would connect the two fundamental forces in theoretical physics.

To others, “The Answer” is an explanation of how the universe will come to an end which includes theories like the “Big Bounce” theory or a “heat death” theory. The “Big Bounce” theory proposes that that the universe could collapse to a point where another Big Bang could occur and thus start another universe. Although the Universe is expanding, theorists for the “Big Bounce” believe that our universe will enter a period of compression and ultimately create another universe through a separate Big Bang.The theory of “heat death” is based on constant entropy being the reason for the universe’s end. Entropy is constantly increasing through reactions according to Thermodynamics which is due to the flow of heat. As heat energy slowly starts to dissipate, there will be a time where there are no longer any points of high or low heat and the natural flow of heat will cease. Without the flow of heat, entropy will cease to increase and the change will no longer occur. 


From my search to understand some of the theories that exist for “The Answer” of the universe, I found an interesting perspective that the possibility of “The Answer” to the universe is leading physicists on a futile search and that there is actually no unifying theory to the universe.  This theory was further explained in a post in 2012 by “Warp” on physicsforums.com called “Maybe there is no grand unified theory?” in which the author describes that “gravity and quantum effects are two completely separate and disconnected features of our universe”. That the features of the universe like gravity and quantum effect could be related to the shape and color of an object where both are independent from each other. Warp furthers that there is not a third feature from the object that connects the color or the shape of the object simply because they are not connected. From my perspective, the different theories that I have come across could almost be unified in an opinionated “theory” that all of the theories for “The Answer” seem ignorant from my limited knowledge in the field as they appear to ignore some damning information that go against their theory. 


Despite providing a compelling explanation for why the two features of the universe could not be connected, the theory of no “Answer” or unifying equation to the universe lacks the perspective that mathematics is a type of language and just because there is not yet a “word” for the object, does not mean that one cannot be created to describe the object. For example, an orange needed a word in any language in order to be described to others which is similar to an equation or type of math that needs to be created in order to explain the connection between gravity and quantum effects. Theories like the “heat death” and the “Big Bounce” theories appose one another since the first believes that the universe will be stagnant at the completion and the ladder says that there will never be an ending.


However, I am not claiming that their theory could not be on the right track to “The Answer” of our universe or that I myself have the correct perspective. My aim is to try and cause some introspection on you the reader about your theories for the “The Answer” to our universe. Although this content is quite complex and not feasible for each reader to go out and test their “Answer”, giving attention towards these concepts will create further discussion and better the field. So I challenge read relating articles and provide your insight.
